Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Heart Vascular Supervisor and upon the request of the physician, sets up and operates many various types of cardiovascular diagnostic equipment utilized to determine the extent of disease process, injury and/or illness.
Performs these tests using a predetermined protocol and sound judgment, providing the highest quality state of the art patient care diagnostic services.
Performs venipuncture to initiate an intravenous line.
Knows the indications, hazards, and the contraindications for all diagnostic modalities, including routine Cardiac and Thallium Stress Testing, Holter Monitoring, Event Monitors and electrocardiograms.
Maintains appropriate patient and administrative records.
Demonstrates cardiovascular diagnostic techniques to staff and/or students and for orientation purposes.
Participates in in-service education and collaborates with other medical personnel as needed.
Responsible for quality assurance monitoring.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSGraduate of an approved school for practical nursing or medical assistant or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE Previous cardiovascular experience and six (6) months training approved by the Medical Co-Directors of the Cardiac Health Center.
At least six (6) months patient care contact.
Experience required performing stress test on patients CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS (MAY VARY BASED ON DEPARTMENT NEEDS).
Current CPR for HealthCare Provider required.
License practical nurse or certified medical assistant preferred.
