Job Description:
Under The Nursing Educator shall also be responsible for providing educational programs to residents, residents' family members and other responsible parties based on identified needs and knowledge deficits.
Duties:
Assesses the educational needs of employees in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Supervisors, and other personnel.
Assesses the educational needs of residents and family members and responsible parties residing or visiting in the facility.
Establishes criteria for all in-service education programs, constructing the curriculum, course outlines, objectives, teaching methods, examinations, and evaluation tools for each program.
Constructs an annual schedule for presentation of mandatory in-service programs.
Plans and implements an orientation program for all Nursing Department personnel and based on identified educational needs, offers individualized counseling and guidance (including infection control and employee health program.
) Keeps informed of new legislation and regulations that impact on standards of nursing practice and resident care.
Serves on committees as assigned.
Participates and contributes to facility's Quality Assurance Program.
Reviews and revises in-service presentations based on educational needs and revised medical standards.
Coordinate and monitor infection control rounds processes Collect and analyze information on in-house infections Investigate and identify control procedures and risk minimizing measures Monitor appropriateness of precautionary procedures for individual patients Maintain records of infections, procedures, outcomes related to infections and risk minimizing activities Review infection and prevalence rates monthly providing recommendations to the quality assurance and assessment committee when indicated Recommend education for employees to minimize, prevent and control infections Collaborate with department managers on infection prevention and control protocols and practices Evaluate availability of materials and equipment for infection prevention and control Evaluate care procedures used for infection prevention and control techniques Coordinate outbreak investigations with the director of nursing and medical director Monitor changes in state and federal regulations and current industry-standard practices EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience with Infection Control practices.
At lease 3 years nursing experience.
Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse.
CPR Certification required.
